Working at Optimist International School

It’s great that you are interested in joining our international team!

Although we are a newly established school, the Stichting Openbaar Primair Onderwijs (SOPOH) organization has over 20 schools in its portfolio and is providing excellent educational facilities within the Gementee Haarlemmermeer region, these include Dutch education, special educational, after-school organisations and more.

Our International education facility is the latest addition to the SOPOH portfolio. We opened our doors in January 2018 as a collaboration within the Optimist basisschool, a Dutch primary school within the stichting.   We quickly outgrew our roots and we are now located in our own international school building with more than 120 students located on the edge of Hoofddorp with good road and public transport networks.

We offer excellent career and professional development opportunities, cultural diversity and a happy working environment.    As a successful applicant, you will be guided through our HR induction programme and welcomed by our thoroughly international team.

 Please read carefully:

Applicants must be eligible to work within the European Union and suitably qualified.    For teaching vacancies, you will require a DUO certificate accredited to working within Primary education.

For safeguarding, we are aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection.

Dutch Law requires a Certificate of Good Conduct (in Dutch: VOG) for positions in primary education. The decision to issue this certificate lies with the Ministry of Justice (in Dutch: Dienst Justis).   Your appointment with SOPHO takes place on condition that you obtain a VOG.  The original certificate of good conduct needs to be submitted to the HR department in time and within the deadlines given by Dienst Justis. This procedure will be explained in further detail by your HR contact person together with other terms and conditions of your employment.  Needless to say, we will reimburse all costs in relation to the above.
