Strengthening the DEP Programme for 2025 and Beyond
The Dutch Enrichment Programme (DEP) continues to evolve at Optimist International School, with exciting leadership updates and an increased focus on maintaining a strong foundation in Dutch instruction. These changes ensure that the programme remains robust and forward-thinking as we move into 2025.
Leadership Enhancements in the DEP
To further support the DEP programme, Marjolein Schenk, who already has been involved in the DEP as a Dutch teacher, will dedicate more time to guiding the team, evaluating the programme, and planning its next steps as a DEP-programme lead (specialist). Her expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of the DEP.
To ensure smooth transitions and maintain high-quality instruction, Gina will join Kelly in teaching Group 8 DEP. Gina has already contributed to the programme and is now fully committing to this role. Kelly will continue to lead Milepost 3 while collaborating with Marjolein to futureproof the DEP, which now works towards achieving 80% Dutch instruction in Group 8.
A Vision for the Future
These updates reflect our dedication to multilingual education and ensuring that the DEP programme provides students with the skills they need to thrive. With strong leadership and a clear vision, the DEP remains a cornerstone of our school’s language-rich curriculum.
We are excited about the continued growth of the DEP and the positive impact these updates will have on our students’ learning journeys.
