Children’s Book Week - Lekker eigenwijs!
What an amazing time we had during Children's Book Week!
By Margit Tera, Multilingual Learning Specialist
From October 2nd to 14th, our school was alive with the joy of reading and the excitement of discovering new stories. The theme, “Lekker Eigenwijs,” reminded us all about the importance of staying true to ourselves while diving into the magic of books.
Our celebrations began with a special visit from author, Toby Glover on October 2nd, who visited each group to share one of his beloved stories. Students in Groups 2 and 3 were thrilled to meet another author, Ivo ten Voorde, who introduced our young learners to his world of books and storytelling.
The week of October 7–11 brought a vibrant multicultural experience as parents filled our school with stories in 14 world languages! We heard the beautiful sounds of Arabic, Afrikaans, Chinese, Italian, French, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Spanish, and Turkish. Thank you to all the parents who contributed their time, enthusiasm, and love for reading!
Children’s Book Week ended on October 14th with our Book Fair, where families gathered to explore and purchase books to enjoy at home.
We are so grateful to everyone who made this celebration memorable. Let’s keep the lekker eigenwijs spirit alive! Encourage your kids to stay curious, be themselves, and dive into stories that celebrate their unique personalities!
