A Journey Through Ancient Egypt – Milepost 2’s Museum Visit
On Thursday, 13th of February, Group 4, and on Friday, 14th of February, Group 5 visited the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities) in Leiden.
The students enjoyed traveling by bus, and on the way there, the bus was filled with singing and exciting questions about what we would see when we got there. This visit marked the exit point of our unit on Temples, Tombs, and Treasures, offering students an immersive experience into the wonders of Ancient Egypt.

The museum provided a fascinating glimpse into one of the most intriguing civilizations in history. Students explored the dedicated Ancient Egypt section, where they marveled at real mummies and breathtaking statues of gods and pharaohs.
They learned about the mysteries of burial practices and the treasures that accompanied the departed into the afterlife. One of the highlights of the visit was the awe-inspiring Temple of Taffeh, an actual Egyptian temple gifted by Egypt to the Netherlands in the 1970s. The students were captivated by its massive stone structure and hieroglyphic inscriptions, which gave them a firsthand look at the grandeur of Egyptian architecture.

Bringing History to Life
Throughout the trip, our young historians asked insightful questions and engaged in discussions about the daily lives of Ancient Egyptians, the role of gods and goddesses, and the fascinating process of mummification. This hands-on experience helped bring history to life, making it more tangible and memorable.
A special thank you to our teachers and parent volunteers who helped make this trip a success. The visit to the museum was not just an educational excursion but a journey through time, leaving everyone inspired and eager to learn more about the past.
