Admissions
We are an international public school offering education within an English speaking environment, embedded in a Dutch context. Our school offers two programmes which can be considered as two learning pathways: The International Programme running from group 1 – 7, which prepares for international secondary education starting at the age of 11. And the Dutch Enrichment Programme (DEP), an alternative additional programme for our upper primary running from group 6 – 8.
We collaborate with Haarlemmermeer Lyceum, a bilingual secondary school, along with other International Secondary schools in the area, to ensure a smooth transition for our students to secondary education.
We welcome applications from families from all over the world who can demonstrate the need for their families to be educated in English thus ensuring continuity in their education.
We provide education in accordance with the framework of the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) whereas we use the British National Curriculum for language and mathematics.
Children qualify for a placement at Optimist International School when:
- The student has a non-Dutch nationality (or: also, a non-Dutch nationality) and has a parent that is working in The Netherlands (or in a Dutch border region) for a limited time.
- The student has the Dutch nationality and has lived and gone to school abroad for at least two years because a parent was stationed abroad.
- The student has the Dutch nationality and has a parent (with whom the student will be living) that will be stationed abroad within two years and for at least two years. This is to be proven by a written statement of the parent’s employer.
Admissions to a Dutch International Schools is subject to one of the conditions above stipulated by Dutch legislations.
